Power
Places and Sacred Spaces are also found
in many home and work environments. When a sacred or
power place is situated within living and work areas,
they are most often referred to, as a "personal"
or "prayer" altar or a "sacred space."
These types of alters are where one goes to pray, meditate,
and to experience inner awareness and spiritual guidance.
Personal altars designed as scared spaces can be made
anywhere. When made indoors, a flat surface is usually
best, such as, a small table or shelf. Outdoor altars
can be fashioned from, and may contain elements of the
Earth such as, water, stones and wood.
Some choose to place their personal altars in the direction
of the East to commemorate the rising of the Sun and
Moon. Others, are guided to place their altar in an
area that has a special meaning or memory associated
with.
Generally, personal altars can consist of any items
that remind us of what we view as being holy and divine.
